I knew a little bit about Afghanistan having served in the Air Force. I was never deployed over there but knew several people who did spend time in Afghanistan. While there are parts of Kabul and Afghanistan that are somewhat modern and nice, it is still very much a third-world country. As messed as our country can be at times, hearing about Afghanistan makes me appreciate where I live.
